The definitive dialogue engine for your game!

Designed to work with:

This asset requires Dialogue Designer to be easy to use. Otherwise, it's tough to hand-write the entire .json file. If you don't have and don't plan to buy DD, I suggest you use this one:

Features:

  • You can easily import your .json file from DD to Game Maker!
  • Activable/Deactivable portraits

Dialogue Designer functions implemented:

  • Support multiple languages
  • Replies with multiple choices (and conditions)
  • Shapechanger (boxes and bubbles)
  • Timers/Wait
  • Repeat
  • Custom, random and conditional branches
  • Variable setter
  • Execute (you have to create a function for this, please take a look at documentation)

NOTE:

for conditional branch, the syntax must be: x == y (with a space between the operator and vars)

Shapes:

  • Dialogue boxes
  • Bubbles (with portrait and dynamic dimensions)

(you can find a quick start guide in downloads)

I bought this and Dialogue Designer to use with this, but I can't open the _example.json in Dialogue Designer, and this system does not work with a new DD .json. About to move to a different dialogue system, but I love the node-based usage of DD, particularly with the improvements to it, and I like the way this is set up.

Have there been any reported issues when using this with Scribble?

I never used Scribble, I don’t know if it’s compatible, I’m sorry

Is there some place I can look at the documentation for this engine? I'm interested in it, but I'm wondering how much compatibility it would have with my current game.
